Chai tea infuses this fragrant applesauce and makes my mouth water thinking about it.
Chai brown sugar
1 bag of chai tea
1/4 c. brown sugar or coconut sugar
Combine the contents of 1 bag of chai tea for every 1/4 c brown sugar or coconut sugar.
Applesauce
6 Pink Lady apples, organic, if possible, peeled, cored and chopped (this is my favorite apple)
2 c. chai tea brewed (4 bags or 2 T loose leaf)
1/2 t. fresh ginger grated
1 T. fresh lemon juice
1/8 t. salt
1/4 c. chai brown sugar
Makes 3 cups applesauce
Over medium heat in an 8-quart saucepan or stockpot, stir the apples, brewed chai tea, ginger, lemon juice, salt and chai brown sugar until bubbling. Cover and lower the heat to simmer and stir occasionally until the liquid is cooked out about 30-35 minutes. The applesauce will be chunky. If you prefer it smooth puree with an immersion blender or in a blender until the consistency is to your liking.
This applesauce is so yummy! Try it on top of oatmeal or pancakes.
